1913 lidded condiment pot by Stokes and Ireland

SKU: 1530237

Auld Curiosities is pleased to offer this sterling silver condiment pot for your consideration. Perhaps harking back to the elegance of a more formal time when the best silver was brought out for visitors and Sunday dinner, to some, the condiment pot may seem outdated and pretentious. However this 1913 offering is neither, the gentle bulge of the lower body is nicely proportioned above the three legs before scooping in and then out again to a frilled lip. The lid is nicely hinged and there is a generous handle to hold on to. A small spoon has been included in the photographs and will be included in the purchase price, but it cannot be guaranteed to be the original and the paua shell terminal in fact supports the idea of it being “a ring in”. The pot stands 2 ½” (63mm) tall to the top of the finial and a body diameter of 1 11/16” (44mm), excluding the feet and handle. It weighs 2.01 ounces (57gms) without the spoon and bears the hallmarks for a Chester assay in 1913 as well as the makers cipher for Stokes and Ireland (William Henry Stokes and Arthur George Ireland were in partnership from 1890 to the first quarter of the 20th century). Postage will be determined at point of sale and is a cost to the buyer. We determine costs to each item as opposed to having regional postage charges to ensure that our charges are accurate and fair. PLEASE DO NOT BUY AN ITEM WITHOUT ESTABLISHING THE POSTAGE CHARGE TO BE ADDED TO THE PURCHASE PRICE. #condimentpot #pot #condiment #silver #sterling #sterlingsilver #chesterassay #1913 #stokesandireland #england #spoon #pauashell
