Album of oil paintings depicting rural Japan around the turn of the 20th century
Auld Curiosities is delighted to offer, for your consideration, an album featuring 17 oil paintings, estimated to be from around the turn of the 20th century. This album starts with a faux leather embossed material cover which is embellished with a hand painted graphic of a vase with roses and the word 'Album'.
Inside the album covers there are 17 oil paintings on card, each a scene of Japan and as noted, appearing to capture scenes from 1890’s to 1920’s. We would suggest they have been painted by an amateur European hand, but one with considerable talent, however further identification is hindered by a lack of any signature or artist identification at all. 14 of the paintings and the cover have been photographed and it would be a good idea for interested parties to look through this amazing range of images. The album covers measure 10 ¼” x 7 ¼” and the oil paintings 6 7/8” x 5 ¼”. There is wear to the album cover with the spine becoming part detached from the rear cover and wear to both outer surfaces. Some of the oils have dirt /dust clinging to the surface but we have left this in situ at this stage as cleaning art is a specialist skill. Postage will be determined at point of sale and is a cost to the buyer. We determine costs to each item as opposed to having regional postage charges to ensure that our charges are accurate and fair. PLEASE DO NOT BUY AN ITEM WITHOUT ESTABLISHING THE POSTAGE CHARGE TO BE ADDED TO THE PURCHASE PRICE
