Art deco sugar scuttle and scoop by Atkin Brothers
Today, Auld Curiosities is pleased to add to the growing inventory, a silver plate sugar scuttle with strong art deco influences by Atkin Brothers. This comes with the original scoop which sits in a holder at the rear of the scuttle. Despite the lack of frills and fancy decoration this is an elegant piece with wonderful lines. The origins of Atkin Brothers can be traced back to Thomas Law who opened a business as a silversmith in 1750, in Sheffield, England. There were a number of changes of ownership and leadership up to the Atkin Brothers name being used with the back-stamp and design supporting a production date between 1925 and about 1935.
This is a pre-owned, pre-used item which has minor imperfections to the silver plate finish. Postage will be determined at point of sale and is a cost to the buyer. We determine costs to each item as opposed to having regional postage charges to ensure that our charges are accurate and fair. PLEASE DO NOT BUY AN ITEM WITHOUT ESTABLISHING THE POSTAGE CHARGE TO BE ADDED TO THE PURCHASE PRICE.

Packaging and Postage
With every item we sell, it is our intention to take every possible care to have it delivered to you in the same condition as when it left our premises. For this reason, packaging is tailored to each item and provides the maximum protection that we consider the item requires. Any item that arrives in a damaged condition should be referred to your postal service in the first instance for assessment of their handling of the package. If satisfaction is still lacking then we will look to see whether our efforts have been inadequate for fair handling of an item and if it is found to be so we will refund the cost of the item. Postage has now become a major cost in ecommerce so we try to strike a balance that will not unduly add excessive cost to your purchase.
New Zealand has, in the last week experienced its first cases of Delta variant of Covid 19. So far cases are limited to our two biggest cities in the North Island and Dunedin sits 3/4 of the way down the South Island, so as yet there seems little risk, especially given the implementation of a level 4 lockdown. which proved so successful in 2020. While we can't guarantee that our area will remain free of infection we can assure customers that all aspects of 'best practice' are in place to ensure that our products will pose no risk to buyers. Staff are fully vaccinated and we use full antiseptic procedures to ensure your safety.
