Art Nouveau period flower vase and stem organiser by Royal Stanley
Auld Curiosities would like to begin 2022 in a positive note and bring you something special. Ideal to fill that role is a Royal Stanley, Jacobean Ware, flower bowl with matching stem organiser. Royal Stanley ware was made almost next door to the Moorcroft factory and so has been (?unfairly) referred to as the “poor man’s Moorcroft”. Certainly there is comparative themes and in this example the use of tube lining suggests that they did employ workers with similar skills and talents. The pattern is that of a rural scene, depicted with a strong art nouveau influence – is perhaps the strength of that influence that allows the comparison with Moorcroft. The flower bowl stands 4 ½” (114mm), sitting on a base with a diameter of 3 13/16” (97mm) and maximum diameter of approximately 5 ¼” (134m). Condition is excellent – no damage or evidence of previous repair.

Covid 19 may continue to ravage world-wide but Dunedin City and indeed Otago, New Zealand remains free of both the Delta and Omicron variants. This is perhaps a reflection on the polarisation of where the majority of visitors fly into New Zealand, our border controls and the provision of managed isolation strategies – however it also has to be acknowledged that the relaxation of some controls may create a fluid situation for viral spread during the holiday period. As always, Auld Curiosities will endeavour to ensure that any of items being stored and/or dispatched will present minimal risk to others.
If for any reason you find an item does not match the description (written or photographic) please contact Auld Curiosities by email within 7 days of the item arriving, to arrange return and refund.
Packaging and Postage
With every item we sell, it is our intention to take every possible care to have it delivered to you in the same condition as when it left our premises. For this reason, packaging is tailored to each item and provides the maximum protection that we consider the item requires. Any item that arrives in a damaged condition should be referred to your postal service in the first instance for assessment of their handling of the package. If satisfaction is still lacking then we will look to see whether our efforts have been inadequate for fair handling of an item and if it is found to be so we will refund the cost of the item. Postage has now become a major cost in ecommerce so we try to strike a balance that will not unduly add excessive cost to your purchase.
