Cased sterling silver spoon with detailed decoration 1907
Auld Curiosities is pleased to bring you this cased sterling silver spoon – nicely worked on both the bowl and terminal areas. This is one of the few spoons that we have offered for sale where the case is designed to hold the spoon so that the back of the spoon is toward the viewer when opening the case. The area holding the bowl of the spoon is raised in the central area to support the upturned bowl. The hallmarks indicate a Sheffield assay in 1907 and the maker as Thomas Levesley who was active within the Levesley Brothers firm between 1897 and 1920. Condition is good but I do note a slight ripple toward the terminal of the of the handle which doesn’t detract to my eye. The spoon is 5 ½” (140mm) and weighs 0.58 ounces or 16.5 grams.
Postage will be determined at point of sale and is a cost to the buyer. We determine costs to each item as opposed to having regional postage charges to ensure that our charges are accurate and fair. Covid 19 may continue to ravage world-wide but Dunedin City and indeed Otago in New Zealand remains free of both the Delta and Omicron variants. However, today saw the Government react (perhaps sluggishly) to the Omicron variant leaking through the border controls that were in place. There is now active cases in both the North Island and the top of the South Island. While Dunedin remains free of the virus, it seems likely that we may face this challenge in the next couple of weeks. As always, Auld Curiosities will endeavour to ensure that any of items being stored and/or dispatched will present minimal risk to others.
If for any reason you find an item does not match the description (written or photographic) please contact Auld Curiosities by email within 7 days of the item arriving, to arrange return and refund.
Packaging and Postage
With every item we sell, it is our intention to take every possible care to have it delivered to you in the same condition as when it left our premises. For this reason, packaging is tailored to each item and provides the maximum protection that we consider the item requires. Any item that arrives in a damaged condition should be referred to your postal service in the first instance for assessment of their handling of the package. If satisfaction is still lacking then we will look to see whether our efforts have been inadequate for fair handling of an item and if it is found to be so we will refund the cost of the item. Postage has now become a major cost in ecommerce so we try to strike a balance that will not unduly add excessive cost to your purchase.
