Decorative pair of brass tapersticks
Auld Curiosities is delighted to bring a matched pair of brass tapersticks for your consideration. These brass sticks are differentiated from candlesticks by the relatively small diameter wax taper/candle that they can hold. In this case the diameter of the hole is a mere 3/8” (9mm) and the taperstick stands just 2 13/16” (71.5mm) tall on a base with a diameter of 1 11/16” (43mm). Tapers date back to 3000BC and I believe that they still have a use in lighting a person’s way (rather than as a static candle light) and also in some religious ceremonies.
Postage will be determined at point of sale and is a cost to the buyer. We determine costs to each item as opposed to having regional postage charges to ensure that our charges are accurate and fair. Covid 19 may continue to ravage world-wide but Dunedin City and indeed Otago, New Zealand remains free of both the Delta and Omicron variants. This is perhaps a reflection on the polarisation of where the majority of visitors fly into New Zealand, our border controls and the provision of managed isolation strategies – however it also has to be acknowledged that the relaxation of some controls may create a fluid situation for viral spread during the holiday period. As always, Auld Curiosities will endeavour to ensure that any of items being stored and/or dispatched will present minimal risk to others.

Packaging and Postage
With every item we sell, it is our intention to take every possible care to have it delivered to you in the same condition as when it left our premises. For this reason, packaging is tailored to each item and provides the maximum protection that we consider the item requires. Any item that arrives in a damaged condition should be referred to your postal service in the first instance for assessment of their handling of the package. If satisfaction is still lacking then we will look to see whether our efforts have been inadequate for fair handling of an item and if it is found to be so we will refund the cost of the item. Postage has now become a major cost in ecommerce so we try to strike a balance that will not unduly add excessive cost to your purchase.
