Goebel lidded jam pot (1960)
Auld Curiosities is pleased to offer this mid-century jam pot by the esteemed company W Goebel – at the time of this pot’s manufacture (1960), based in West Germany. Perhaps best known for their Hummel figurines, the Goebel company started in 1878 as a partnership between William and his father Franz Detleff. A reputation for quality porcelain carries through to present day. The pot stands 4” (102mm) tall to the top of the cherry decoration on the lid and has a maximum diameter of 3 5/16” (84mm). The pot is supplied with a silver plated jam spoon but this is unlikely to be original as it is an English company brand. Condition suggests this pot has had little use as yet and it is free of any damage.
