Late 19th Century Double boiler glue pot by A Kenrick & Sons

SKU: 8340302

Auld Curiosities is pleased to offer this antique 1/6th pint double boiler glue pot by Archibald Kenrick and Sons. These pots were used in conjunction with glues that melted in the inner iron pot when it was heated with hot water in the lower iron container with both supported over a fire. The glue had a reasonably low melting temperature but made a strong and lasting bond when applied well. This pot combination is previously owned and appears to have been well used and well looked after. Archibald Kenrick and Sons was established in 1791 and still functions today, manufacturing ball castors. These iron glue pots are dated to the late 1800’s. and there is a suggestion that double boilers like this were also used to melt shellacs and varnishes.
