Trio of Royal Doulton pin dishes in the Glamis Thistle pattern
Perhaps with a nod to the approaching Hogmany (New Year) Auld Curiosities is delighted to offer three Royal Doulton pin dishes in the Glamis Thistle pattern. These pin dishes are signed by the painter Percy Curnock who was regarded as one of the premier ceramic artists in England during his 70 years that he worked for Doulton. Glamis Thistle was one of two patterns that were allowed to carry a facsimile signature, which had not previously happened at Doulton. The pattern was produced between 1938 and 1961 and the gold trim makes pieces unsuitable for the microwave. The pin dishes measure 5 ¼” (134mm) across the widest point and stand 15/16” (25mm) tall. Condition is excellent across all three pre-owned dishes.

It now seems that there is no case of Covid 19 in the Otago community where the city of Dunedin sits, despite yesterday’s report. Needless to say, Auld Curiosities will continue with the stringent measures that have been in place for some time. There is no face to face contact with potential customers and very limited contact when buying items, going to lengths to minimise the risk of transmission. Items are thoroughly prepared for sale including the use of antiviral wash where this will not damages the item. Paper and delicate items are cleaned dry and kept separate until sold. Your safety and satisfaction is our only concern. Our local situation will be updated as more information comes to hand.
Packaging and Postage
With every item we sell, it is our intention to take every possible care to have it delivered to you in the same condition as when it left our premises. For this reason, packaging is tailored to each item and provides the maximum protection that we consider the item requires. Any item that arrives in a damaged condition should be referred to your postal service in the first instance for assessment of their handling of the package. If satisfaction is still lacking then we will look to see whether our efforts have been inadequate for fair handling of an item and if it is found to be so we will refund the cost of the item. Postage has now become a major cost in ecommerce so we try to strike a balance that will not unduly add excessive cost to your purchase.
