White metal brooch with a Georgian era style portrait

The metal of this brooch is not hallmarked in any way and so despite personal belief, I can’t refer to it other than white metal. The safety chain is an obvious late addition (but a sensible one) given that this brooch is a quality item. The glass face over the painting gives good protection and remains clear of distracting scratches etc. The portrait which has all the hallmarks of being hand painted on a lightly textured surface, I imagine a form of artist’s paper The subject is dressed in what looks quite formal attire topped with a ‘cavalier’ style hat with black feathers – all suggestive of a late Georgian period, perhaps the 1830’s and this is supported by the fastening pin extending beyond the edge of the brooch and the rudimentary catch for the pin.
