Antique WMF brass vase with restrained but good impact decoration

Auld Curiosities is delighted to offer this brass vase decorated in a  restrained art nouveau style. Made by the renowned WMF (Wurttembergische Metallwarenfabrik) of Germany, the vase appears to be solid brass – with small enamel highlighted flowers in the presence of slightly smaller flowers that aren’t enamelled. The design has a pleasing flow and clean lines and probably sits toward the end of the art nouveau era, going into the art deco. The back-stamp features the iconic running ostrich in a rhombus which is further contained by a domed rectangular frame with horizontal lines. This mark was introduced in the first few years of the 20th century and was used up until the early 1930’s. The vase stands 13 ¾”” (370mm) tall and has a rim diameter of 3” (76mm) and a maximum body diameter of approximately 4 7/8” (124mm). This is a pre-owned items and it does show some wear and one small dent which does show in one of the photographs.
