Antique Sterling Silver nurses belt buckle featuring cherubs

For your consideration we offer a sterling silver belt buckle, with hall marks for London, 1895 and the maker’s cypher for William Comyns and Sons. The buckle is ornately covered in vines, leaves and flowers with three cherubs on each half of the buckle. The back of the buckle, as shown in the fourth photograph, has a bar on each half for the belt material to loop through and be sewn flat, as well as the hook and eye type clasp for closing the belt. The belt weighs a very solid 83grams and measures 130mm at the widest part of the horizontal and 72mm in depth at the widest part.
