Edwardian era "Bristol Green" eye-wash cup

Antique Bristol green, pedestal based eye wash cup for your viewing pleasure. Eye washing has been a long standing practice both for administering medications and for washing out impurities. This particular eye wash cup doesn’t have any branding on the base of the pedestal to identify a maker however it is of the form usually referred to as a hand blown (into a mould) John Bull eye wash cup. The pattern was patented in 1917 and the cup stands 2 ½” (63mm) tall on a base with a diameter of 1 9/16” (39mm). The pedestal has been shaped into eight flat faceted surfaces and swells before meeting the bottom of the generously shaped cup. Condition is excellent for a pre-owned piece of this age – no chips or cracks.
