Art Deco era uranium glass trio of Grantham (pattern 334) vases by Bagley
Finding a small Grantham pattern vase in uranium glass can be a challenge and a delight when achieved. Finding three, well that was our lucky day. Made by the Bagley and Co. Ltd which started in 1871 in Knottingly, West Yorkshire, England, the ‘Grantham’ is a well-recognised pattern from the height of the art deco style in the 1920’s. This and a number of other glass patterns gave the company a very prominent leadership role in ornamental glassware. The vases stand 100mm tall at their highest point. As can be seen in the images supplied, the base of one vase has a small area where the glass has cracked but not parted. I actually wondered if it had been glued in place when I first saw it, but under magnification that doesn’t appear to be the case.
