Waterman Ideal fountain pen patented May 24 1899 to Aug 4 1903

NZ$165.00

The Waterman Ideal Fountain Pen N.Y. Patented May 3rd 1899 and Aug 3 1903 U.S.A. In line with Waterman’s model identification system, the base of the pen barrel is stamped – in this case with the number 12. This puts the pen in the late 1900’s to early 1920’s as far as manufacture goes and the pen has a chased hard black rubber body and cap with a flexible No.2 nib. The pen uses the ‘eyedropper’ filling system and there is ink flow on testing but the nib does seem well used and a little scratchy to my hand. I suggest that a new nib and a full service would be required, by someone who knows what they are doing, would be in order. The pen is 5 ¼” (134mm) with the cap in place
