Conway Stewart Model 286 fountain pen
The reading that I have done suggests that the pen has a Vulcanite body, which fits with the dates that it was manufactured (between 1930 and 1945). The body appears to have faded over the years, when I compare the piece covered by the cap to that exposed to the elements over the years. My thought is this was a black fountain pen in its youth but the elements and dare I say some over enthusiastic ‘polishing’ has changed the cap and exposed body to a brown rather than black. That ‘polishing’ has also all but erased the pens logo (The Conway Stewart) and I imagine it will require a dedicated restorer to address this as well as the servicing of the pen in general. Comes with the original box and guarantee
