Edinburgh crystal lidded conserve / preserve/honey pot

NZ$80.00

Auld Curiosities is today offering a truly elegant crystal, lidded conserve/preserve/honey pot by the Edinburgh Crystal Company. Originally known as the Edinburgh and Leith Flint Glass Works from conception in 1867, the company evolved through several partnerships and take-overs including ownership by Thomas Webb and Sons, the Coloroll Group, Waterford Wedgwood and ultimately by KPS Capital, before production being discontinued in 2009. The acid etch backstamp on this wonderful piece dates between 1955 and the early 1980’s. The waisted shape of the body is enhanced by the raised lip with cut half-moons to the double row of diamond cut thumbprints, separated by cut crosses in the shape of the St Andrews Cross before swelling out to a nice heavy base. Both the base and the lid have an eight armed star pattern. The pot is 4” (102mm) tall to the top of the lid finial and at the widest point the pot has a diameter of approximately 3 1/8” (80mm).
