Vintage, spring action pocket cigar cutter by Solingen

NZ$45.00

Auld Curiosities has found a number of images of this model of cigar cutter which all seem to date around the early 1940’s, with the same pattern of machine engraving on the body all made by Solingen of Germany. The trimming of the cigar end is not by spring action but very much under user control. The ‘V’ shaped blade would, we imagine, slice the tobacco leave with ease. The cutting action compresses the spring loading mechanism and a simple press of the button (see images) would clear any debris for the next use. Unfortunately, the chromed body seems to have been exposed to dampness and the chrome coating is blistered in places (see images), more on the user side than the other. The cutter measures 55mm long by 25mm wide and 7mm deep.
