Art Nouveau style, two handled brass vase, created by trench art

Auld Curiosities is pleased to offer this vase for your consideration. It is not our intention to drive a discussion of the rights and wrongs of war, but Trench Art has a special attraction, brought about by the transformation of something brutally utilitarian and dangerous, into something artistic and attractive. This brass vase with a strong art nouveau theme and the artillery shell, which makes up the body, The vase stands 9 7/8” (251mm) tall on a base of 2 15/16” (75mm). Research suggests that it is most likely to be a shell casing of a WW1 British 6 pounder (but it may also be a French 75mm round).
