Bursley ware vase (H.J Wood and Sons) dating to 1926/7

NZ$72.50

Tonight it is Auld Curiosities’ pleasure to offer up a small vase by the firm of Wood and Sons from their Bursley factory (Previously the Crown Pottery). H.J. wood and Sons is a highly regarded factory which attracted the services of Frederick Rhead and his daughter Charlotte Rhead. The vase shape was certainly in use when Frederick Rhead was producing his Amstel range and images of vases I that pattern can be found. Frustratingly, I have been unable to find this pattern, either from the Rheads or other designers at the works in that time frame. The back-stamp dates this vase to the late 1920’s and the pattern number to about 1926/27. The vase stands 155mm tall on a base with a diameter of 53mm and a rim diameter of 54mm. The orange markings in the design are raised above the surface. Condition is excellent – no damage or excessive wear found – though the interior base is stained suggesting previous use for flowers.

As photographs form an important part of the description, happy to provide additional images if requested. Please also take the time to check out our eclectic range of items being offered.
