Late 19th/early20th century beaten copper by Gebruder Bing of Nuremburg

NZ$85.00

Gebrüder Bing (The Brothers Bing) was a major German manufacturing company, founded in 1863. Starting with producing kitchenware in pewter and copper, they diversified into toys and were once the largest toy producer in the world known for a vast range of products including toy trains, teddy bears, and kitchenware. The company ceased operations in 1932 due to financial hardship and the political climate in Germany. This particular pitcher style is identified as being late 1800's/early 1900's only. The raffia wrapped handle was to provide some protection to the hand, when the pitcher was full of hot water. The hand hammered copper body is an example of excellent craftsmanship and the pitcher would be a great display piece in any kitchen or home. The pitcher stands approximately 146mm tall and is marked as holding 1/2 litre. As shown there is a tinned interior, but looking a bit tired.
