Bronze statuette of a U.S. Army scout in the style of Frederic Remington

NZ$225.00

Auld Curiosities is delighted to offer this bronze statue in the style of Frederic Remington, for your consideration. Representing a soldier/scout from the Union army of the United States, the statue has been created with considerable detail, as can be seen in the selection of photographs. I can’t attribute this directly to Frederic Remington but the style and subject were very much his sculpture domain. The hat bears crossed swords on the front and appears similar to that designed by Col. T.P. Amdrews who commanded the Voltigeur Regiment during the Mexican war. The high-necked jacket is bound by crossed bandolier type straps, hold a cavalry sword on the riders left and a holstered revolver on the right. These is a holstered rifle, again on the right as well as saddlebags behind the rider and a bedroll to his front. The soldier holds binoculars as though in the process of raising/lowering them from his eyes and that sense of dynamic movement carries through to the stance of the horse. The bronze has been cold patinated with a green finish and this is noticeably worn on the higher surface areas from dusting/cleaning, allowing the bronze metal to show through. The statue stands 8” (203mm) tall on a base which measures 6 1/8” (155mm) long and 2 5/8” (67mm) wide. The limited amount of wear on the statue leads me to believe that it is vintage rather than antique but it may still hold some attraction to the right buyer.

As photographs form an important part of the description, happy to provide additional images if requested. Please also take the time to check out our eclectic range of items being offered.
