Rare pair of squat iridescent green Loetz vases circa 1940's - 50's

Auld Curiosities is pleased to offer, for your consideration, a matched pair of beautifully decorated and iridised Loetz squat bowls which would be perfect for holding posies, or indeed being used simpy as beautiful orna,emets. To my eye the pattern on the glass is reminiscent of layers of feathers and the colour enhancement provided by the iridised glass compliments this. The process for iridising glass involves adding chemicals to the hot glass – these range through ferric chloride, stannous chloride and chloride of antimony can also be used. There are also processes which use the fumes elements such as barium and strontium. The process of iridising can create variation and to my eye one vase has more developed pinkish tones than the other (though the directional light may also be emphasising that). The vases stand 4 1/8” (105mm) tall and has a maximum diameter of 4 5/16” (110mm).
