Art Deco style brooch with plenty of movement and sparkle

It has been a while since Auld Curiosities has brought such a fine example of art deco jewellery before you. Brooches may well be less popular that a decade ago, but this piece is a bold statement which may convince the lucky owner to start a trend rather than follow one. The metal is not marked as silver so considered and offered as white metal – the stones must then be discounted as diamonds and offered as lesser value. All that being said – this piece isn’t about the value of the components but the value created by bringing them together with such panache. Starting from the top of the brooch the largest cleat sparkling stone is flanked by two slightly smaller stones on each side. Immediately below in the centre there are three baguette cut stones in descending size with a further two at the extreme edge of each size. Inside those outer baguettes there small round cut stones. Below this bar of the brooch there are three drops, each articulated x4 to give magnificent movement to the piece when worn. The centre drop has 4 mid-sized round cut stones while the drop on either side has three. Each drop also holds six baguette cut stones. The centre drop has twenty-four smaller round cut stones and ten marquise cut stones at the terminal, while those on each flank have twenty-two small round cut stones and six marquise cut stones at the terminals. All stones are present in their settings. The brooch measures 3 1/16” (78mm) measured at the longest point and has a maximum width of 1 7/8” (48mm). Excellent sparkle, excellent impact.
