A.W. Faber Castell c.1950’s, Addiator PPR Disponent 1/22A

NZ$85.00

Auld Curiosities is embarrassed to say that mathematics at school went beyond the meagre limits of our brain stretch. Even more so when they introduced the class to slide rules – oh how I hated the plastic version that we were encouraged to buy. There are simply things, my plastic slide rule being one, that fried my brain. Consider my consternation when my life intersected with this, potentially very much more powerful and more beautifully constructed Addiator Solid timber bonded to celluloid then plastic covers full of, to me, arcane symbology with no map or printed word to lead the uninitiated through the spells and formulae that it can process. If you are a collector of mathematical treasures then this may be of interest. From Google Assistant : The 1/22A is considered a transitional and unusual piece of calculating history, bridging the gap between analog slide rules and the emerging electronic calculators that eventually rendered them obsolete by the mid-1970s
