This medallion is the official Tower of David Jerusalem City Museum Award Medal, issued in 1983. The bronze/tombac medallion features a representation This medallion is the official Tower of David Jerusalem City Museum of the Tower of David on the obverse, along with the name to identify the structure. As well there is the wording “Jerusalem City Museum” - the medallion commemorates the opening of the museum on the site of the tower of David in 1983.All words in English are repeated in Hebrew. On the reverse the medallion features the “Lion of Juddah” (the symbol of Jerusalem) surrounded by the word Jerusalem written in 20 different languages. The medallion is approximately 59mm in diameter and weighs in just under 100gms. It was issued by the Israel Government Coins and Medals Corporation. As can be seen in the images, this medallion has a rudimentary envelope for protection, buy obviously there will be further quality, protective packaging.
